Have you ever thought to visit Berlin and get a bird’s-eye view of the town? A very particular and interesting point of view.
We had the chance to experience it during our short stay in Berlin and it has been worth it really.
Today we take you to Hi-Flyer Berlin just behind the Checkpoint Charlie, a so famous tourist place.
The name remind the nickname of one of those flight’s pioneers in the first years of the last century.
Reality doesn’t stray much from fantasy: Hi-Flyer Berlin is an enormous hot-air balloon bounded to land by a solid steel cable.
Fly by hot-air balloon over Berlin
The experience by Hi-Flyer is really unique: you go into the big panoramic “little basket” which can take more than 20 people easily and we leave.
The huge winch that bounds to land the hot-air balloon starts to release, meter after meter, the steel cable as far as reach an altitude of 150 metres!
I assure you that you feel so little up there and the feeling is really unique. It’s enough to think that three people moving to the same side on the little basket make it lean one side.
Children will enjoy themselves enormously and adults can take very beautiful photographs from above over Berlin.
Fly by ho-air balloon over Berlin is really a unique feeling!
The 360 degrees view over Berlin from up there can be compared only to that one you can admire from the television tower which is a bit higher.
But keep in mind that from the television tower you can admire the landscape only through the glass and you cannot go outside, furthermore you will be very far from the glass and the photos will be full of reflexes.
Instead from the hot-air balloon the photos are very beautiful. It’s a unique chance to photograph from a different view the town of Berlin with all its monuments and in all its size.
In a clear day the view from above can sweep kilometres and kilometres. The Hi-Flyer is one of the biggest hot-air balloon in the world.
Whether you stop in Berlin a week or a weekend, the Hi-Flyer is absolutely to put in the interest points of the town not to miss.
Whether you love more adrenaline (and more expensive) experiences, the Air Service Berlin has lots of alternatives in store for you, one more interesting than the other: from tours by helicopter to those ones by biplane and even hydroplane.
Hi-Flyer: useful information
The Hi-Flyer is in Berlin, in the Zimmerstrasse, and it’s easily reachable by the very good underground lines serving the town.
It lasts only 15 minutes but it allows to admire all the main monuments of Berlin from the top: from Brandenburg Gate to Sony Centre.
Going around the round ring of the little basket you can take photos in full relief.
Now it costs 19.90 Euros each. Remember to always check the weather condition before going to the Hi-Flyer.
To plan this one and other excursions, you can refer to the VisitBerlin website, also translated into Italian, where you can find lots of useful information and alternative suggestions to visit the town. Don’t forget to download the app which will allow you to live Berlin as local people do.
To visit near the Hi-Flyer
To the lovers of vintage cars of the East Germany, going out from the Hi-Flyer tour you can visit, just next to it, the Trabant Museum with the thousands changes and personalization made to this legendary car during years.
There are all sorts of Trabant and you can pick and choose!
The tour of the area can be completed by watching the interesting filmed sequences and vintage photos of the museum dedicated to the Wall’s History which you will find on the same street a hundred metres far and go through meeting the History, the real one, at Checkpoint Charlie with the museum attached.
One of the gooseflesh places in whole Berlin.
