Good Living week
It’s a great pleasure for me to come back in Romagna to take part in the appointment that has become a must by now: the Week of Buon Vivere (Good Living).
1st October 2014
We arrive late in the evening at Grand Hotel Terme Riolo.
We’ll sleep like kings tonight: there’s the tester bed, too!
Authorities’ welcome and the group in full force…perhaps! Roby is taking photos, of course!
Let’s start eating! Dinner slipped by.
2nd October 2014
In the morning we visit St. John the Baptist Abbey in Valsenisio.
A place restored with masterly skill which deserves a stage to find out its history.
You’ll be thrilled by the stories of holes, brooms and fortuities which brought to interesting discoveries.
Then we move to Augusto Rinaldi Ceroni Herb Garden.
This place is a riot of smells, tastes, officinal and curative herbs…
You must come here to find out the countless properties of Herb Louisa. I thought it was used only for the liqueur!
In our “labs” we prepare some particular smelling and unique matching salad.
Bloggers start work right now.
Valeria is always in the first row when she can try something new, of course.
Even the pomegranate bewitches her.
Now it’s time to leave this so sweet-smelling place but only after have tasted our delicious salad. We have lunch at Locanda Il Cardello.
Elegant and fine dishes offered with a masterly skill.
A pleasure to the eye first and appetizing then.
It’s impossible to choose the best dish.
The Good Living Week in Romagna is really an experience which envelops all senses.
We move to Cesena for the official opening of demonstration. It is its 5th edition.
Let’s start with the aperitif.
Verdi Theatre is the location.
Hotel-management schools challenge each other in a masterly mix which combines good food and skill.
The evening slipped by.
It’s impossible to say who the real winner is!
These dishes are really one better than the other.
Before the end of this busy day a photo is de rigueur.
3rd October 2014
Today we are going to find out Thermal Baths of Riolo, their history and their therapeutic properties.
A stately hall with a Venetian glasswork chandelier in. A source of joy and torment for operators, easy to understand why if you think about its worth.
In the ancient park you can taste this depurative water with a lot of therapeutic properties.
We are inside the thermal swimming pool: hydro massages, waterworks, mushrooms, kneipp…and sauna, Turkish bath and emotional shower, of course.
Some relax. Then we move to the Hotel-management School of Riolo Terme where the youngsters will make a show cooking only for us.
High quality local products offered and combined in a masterly manner.
These youngsters are really good and well-trained. On the other hand… they won during the gala performance last night!
This is a delicious cake!
But we can’t waste our time. Mud baths at Thermal Bath are waiting for us. We must try a treatment, right?
A tour in the wellness area and we leave to find out the Rocca of Riolo.
The fortress was restored in a masterly manner. Caterina Sforza welcomes us personally. She tells us about this so interesting place: its history, the sights and its peculiarities. It’s just in the centre of Riolo.
You can also try helmets and armours. And who is in the first row? The person who always has to do and try everything, of course! Here is Valeria with the attack helmet!
During the year there are lots of shows at the museum and everything is interactive. It’s a paradise for children.
Only one flaw: there is nothing in English language, as in the most of the Italian museum. But it seems they are equipping themselves. We advise them heartily!
It’s very late even if we have found out only a little part of this place. It’s time to leave, just after have tasted an aperitif in this very beautiful venue on the walls.
One last photo with Caterina Sforza in the location of the lighted fortress. We move few steps to Cantine Antica Grotta where we have dinner.
Wines are absolutely the strong point and they play the lord and the master. Omar combined his passion and his job in a masterly manner. Dinner isn’t less than him.
Now it’s time to say goodnight to you. See you tomorrow!
4th October 2014
We’re arrived at S. Giorgio Hotel in Riccione.
A quick stop due to luggage and go! Next stage: Cattolica Fish market.
Here are canocchie. It’s not easy to explain to foreign bloggers what they are. So, just look at them!
We was shown to this large quite technological venue. Do you know what can you do here?
There’s the first buyer. Here the fish auction takes place.
It’s a Dutch auction with a very quick purchasing process by these panels or by dedicated apps.
Some fishing nets are repaired and mended here.
Valeria! Don’t tell me you want try this, too!
We move towards Cattolica harbour.
We must find out everything about fishing, mussels and clams’ cultivation.
First of all we eat, of course. We have lunch on the boat. I stuffed myself with mussels. I feel embarrassed. I’ve eaten four dishes!
Home-made pasta with clams.
Canocchie! Do you have an idea how good are they just caught? In fact, when they are light, it means they aren’t fresh. Keep in your mind!
It’s time to see how mussels are caught directly in the sea. Let’s go.
Expert fishermen know how mussels are growing up only have a look to the buoy’s floating level…
Did you know the growth’s cycle of mussels last one year? That’s why they are so big?
We move to Bevabbè in Riccione for dinner.
Valeria stares her eyes. “Why are these desks here?” We had a good laugh!
It’s late. We come back to the hotel. This is our room. It’s the room Giuseppe Ungaretti.
It’s really beautiful! Elegance and design look perfectly with practical qualities and beauty.
5th October 2014
We visit the Aquarium of Cattolica in the morning.
We enjoyed watching feeding river otters, which are shorter than the ones in Nepal. But they are playful animals in the same way!
Valeria is more interested in the fish-pond where she can touch and stroke rays, of course!
We have lunch at Pesce Azzurro, where Lucia welcomes us warmly, as a perfect hostess.
We have a quick break coffee with her and Simona, a dear friend. Let’s go! Our tour is going on.
Here we are in Rimini at Tiberius’ bridge.
We walk down a part of urban trekking and someone don’t miss the opportunity to try all the fitness routes, of course!
Tonight we eat Vegan food at Arboreto Cicchetti.
We’re trying herbs, flowers and petals.
Bloggers are all preparing dinner. Then we’ll eat all together.
Who knows what are they preparing?
Valeria! Those orange glasses are your brand! Do you have some blogger’s fanciful fashion ambition, perhaps?
This are the ingredients for the carrot cake made by Valeria and Roberto! They won unanimously but as Valeria says… it’s not the fault of the others who have lost!
The result is not so bad!
We come back to the hotel and again we have a tour in the wellness area!
What? Is the swimming pool open? At the end of the evening we have a good swim in the panoramic swimming pool on the last floor. Is there anything better?
