Our plane is leaving at dawn and forces us to get up very early. We slept only three hours last night but what’s better than admire the dawn flying?
We love it like that! Really much!
Berlin is pure fun for children and adults.
What to see in Berlin?
With its great big green areas in the town so experienced by people at every hour, with its museums to visit, with its tours by ferry and above all with all these billions of coloured little bricks very effective!
Berlin is avant-garde architecture.
With its endless indoor and outdoor areas where you walk turned-up nose for hours!
Where you admire the contrasts of a town which was always contrast in history.
Walking in a town on man scale, where in each moment people go cycle, by skateboard, by all sorts of thousands of means and they go jogging along kilometres of soft tracks.
All perfectly upkept.
Where bicycles use the cycle tracks, pedestrians use the pavements and cars park where is allowed!
When I travel around the world, I always love countries where the respect of rules creates a daily order where you live so well!
Postdamer Platz is all this and much more.
Then there’s this place of modern architecture, a so particular area where you get lost.
An indoor area that is outdoor, which rises so much to defy the Berlinian climate to give the impression to be outdoor and to stay outdoor even if it’s raining outdoor.
It’s easy to spend time in this place, simply watching!
Then there’s the station.
It’s striking how modern is perfectly put in the history, how next to each architectural work there’s a pedestrian precinct allowing to live itself and endless cycle tracks.
But Berlin is also, above all and of course, history.
A history that everyone knows, more or less, a glorious history at times, dark now and then, devastating at times.
A history you meet in each moment all around the town.
You come close to it in the underground’s placards, among the photos of the great characters portrayed.
Or it stabs us in the strongest places, when we enter the stories about great men and we feel little.
We choose to admire it a bit also from one of the several river cruises. Much tourist but relaxing a lot.
Even if we are on a side, you know: we always like water and boat in all shapes!
Then Berlin is a town all to live.
Every time we go back it always strikes us in the same way!
It’s impossible to go to bed.
Always thousands of things to do and to see.
We relax and enjoy life. Everywhere! The food is very good and the places where to stop are one more beautiful than the other!
But we are destroyed. It’s time to go to the hotel. We arrive at Flottwell Hotel. Save this place!
Just outside the town centre, really close to the underground and with the rooms overlooking this wonderful urban park where people play, do sport and relax.
Very comfortable and cleaned rooms with complete cooking area. Bathroom furnished with taste and design. The perfect choice!
Whether you are thinking about visiting Berlin (and I advise you to do it!), it’s not to be missed.

Have you ever thought to get a bird’s-eye view of the town?
Did I tell you Berlin always keep surprises even if you have visited it already many times, didn’t I?
By hot-air balloon, early in the morning, alone, the town is still sleeping…it’s wonderful and it really worth to get up very early!
Berlin Hi-Flyer is the right place.
We go up by hot-air balloon.
You feel just little up there.
The view is wonderful, it’s useless to say.
An alternative experience all to try!
Then if you have children with you, they will enjoy themselves enormously!
Just near there there’s the Checkpoint Charlie.
Here the history of Berlin is in the air.
It makes your flesh creep. In a vortex it takes you back to all what you know, all what you read, all what you heard about this place.
Those few parts of the wall around the town are still there to testify a past of which it rest a little, a past that in 1989, as soon as possible, was destroyed and together with the wall even all that the lack of freedom meant.
It was interesting to me visit Berlin at regular times.
From the first years when you realized in a flash whether you was in the East part or in the West one until today where nothing is recognizable.
A history that is still alive today when it takes position in a strong and determined way where freedom is trampled.
The placard’s picture about Ukraine gives creeps. It takes little to loose freedom and it takes a lot to regain it. Too often we forget that keeping it has a cost, too!
Now, where are we?
I already told you today is the day to see Berlin from the sky!
Of course, it couldn’t miss one of the symbol: the television tower!
The view from up here is wonderful and the thing that strikes most is the order and the green that it “gives off” also from on high: a lot of public parks and the green dominates also on the buildings’ roofs.
I don’t know how many times we did the complete tour!
Endless and endless.
Then again and again.
When we finally dragged Valeria…
Still some shoots in Berlin and it’s very late again!
See you tomorrow. What’s ahead of us?
I give you some clues in the last photos!
10th May 2015
Unfortunately today our programme we waited for impatiently has been cancelled: we should have discovered Berlin from the canoe.
Today there’s a very strong wind blowing here in Berlin and it’s impossible going out by canoe. Never mind. Change in programme!
Exaggerated breakfast at the hotel and go! We regret a bit to leave it. It’s one of those places where…who travels knows what I mean. To us the hotels are above all places where to spend the night but sometimes there are those places where all is how it must be: the mattress is comfortable (and unique in the double bed), in the shower the water is abundant and the temperature regulates well, the pillion is at the right height and there’s even the additional one…all little things but they make appreciate really a lot.
Here it is, the Flottwell Hotel is like that!
We go towards the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.
Valeria liked a lot the visit, even if – of course – not much as Legoland the day before yesterday.
She enjoyed herself enormously to be photographed with all the characters she knew!
Then she found someone as E.T. more beautiful that the others.
And what about him? Even the wig! We didn’t have any doubt that he was the best character to Valeria! The test in the interactive panel, too, of course!
Since we have in our mind the original Museum in London, even if visited really many years ago, this one leaves a bit like that…I mean, if you visited the other one, don’t enter this one!
It’s time to move. Station and train. Someone takes advantage to recover a bit of study and…another destination is ahead of us!
Which? Tropical Island. Do you have ever heard? The largest spa in Europe inside hangar of an airship. Discover it with us!
